Active and sustainable tourism
Tourism that is sustainable and respectful of the environment is one of the pillars of the town’s tourism strategy. Tourism, now and in the future, must be inescapably committed to the planet and its inhabitants. For this reason, in April 2019, the town became part of the list of Biosphere Destinations, a certificate awarded by UNESCO. This is a seal that recognises the quality and sustainability of environmental, as well as economic and social aspects. It is a designation that demonstrates the town’s commitment to off-seasonal tourism, which respects the natural environment and, ultimately, aims to improve people’s quality of life.

Natural Parks
El Garraf, Foix and Olèrdola are the three parks that surround Vilanova i la Geltrú. Various routes can be followed, which are perfect for exploring and discovering the entire region.
These are ideal for getting to know the flora and fauna, as well as the vestiges of the region’s winemaking and livestock-farming past. The geological feature typical of the Garraf massif is limestone.
This is the main type of rock, which creates an incredibly beautiful dry rugged landscape.
Active Tourism
The area known as Els Colls-Miralpeix is a nature area on the shores of the Mediterranean Sea between the town districts of Vilanova and Sitges. This route, the GR-92, is one of the most emblematic of our district and is a great option for discovering a natural area without roaming too far from the town.
The town also has a wide variety of urban and regional routes for active tourism, which, at the same time, allow visitors to discover beautiful natural areas, We invite you to come and enjoy these routes with all the family, where you will find trails that can be done with the youngest members, on foot or by bike. Excursions by kayak or paddle surf are also an ideal way to enjoy the coastline of the Garraf from the sea.
